De-Stress Like a Star with These Fun Relaxation Ideas

Juggling work and play is no joke. So, when you achieve something at work or personal life, you deserve to treat yourself with de-stressing activities. And what better way to relax than by taking it from your favourite celebs? Here are six ways to take a break like a celebrity.

  1. Reward Yourself With Treats

Your favourite stars may be all abs and muscles, but they enjoy cheat days, too. If you’ve been working hard in the gym every day after work for a month now, reward yourself with your favourite sweet treat—may it be a bar of chocolate or a slice of pie. Forget about calories just this once, girl.

  1. Game Nights With Besties

With the crazy schedule of celebrities, many of them choose to bond with their friends during their off duty. Gather your best pals for a night of cards or your favourite childhood games over some drinks and treats.

  1. Buy Yourself Something

Whether you’re coping from stress or rewarding yourself for a job well done, buying yourself something definitely rewards you a feeling of gratification. Buy yourself a new pair of heels or that gorgeous handbag you’ve been eyeing for months. You deserve a little splurge for all the hard work.

  1. Pamper Yourself

Get a full body massage or your hair and nails done. If your jam-packed schedule allows, go on a vacation somewhere quiet and peaceful to unwind and relax. Hustle like the stars and look perfect like them, too.

  1. Spend Time With Bae

You may not be the other half of a famous celebrity couple. So what? Bae surely misses you when all your attention is at work. Take a day off and just spend some quality time with your S.O.

  1. Get Busy In the Kitchen

Cooking is a fun way to de-stress. If you’re an exceptional cook—or even just practicing to be one—let the comfort of your own kitchen help relieve the stress. Like meditation, cooking provides a chance to reflect and just breathe. Why not stalk the social media accounts of your favourite celebrity chefs and take inspiration from their cooking ideas.

  1. Stay In Bed

You love it. Celebrities love it. Everybody loves it. Staying in bed and not worrying about a single thing is perhaps the best way to de-stress. It doesn’t have to be in a posh hotel room or in an out-of-town destination. You can have own staycation at your own bedroom and do nothing but lay in bed.

These celeb-approved de-stressing ideas will have you feeling relaxed after a hectic week at work. If they’re good enough for your favourite A-list celebs, they’re bound to have you feeling great as well.

2016 List of Highest Paid Authors

You are a bibliophile and it is okay. Books for you are food for your soul. They say that the kind of book you read is the kind of person you are. This is also true for authors – the kind of book they write also tells the kind of person they are. If you find good books, do not forget about the author’s name. You may forget about their faces but never their names.

Speaking of authors, you should know the highest paid authors for this year. Forbes actually compiled a list of the highest paid authors. According to Forbes, these authors made a whopping $269 million collectively over the last twelve months. The earnings of these authors came from book sales, movie and television adaptations.

Here is the list:

  1. James Patterson: James Patterson topped the list with an income of $95 million. His books include Alex Cross, Witch & Wizard, Treasure Hunters, Private Paris and more. He won numerous awards from the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. His upcoming movie is Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life.

  1. Jeff Kinney: Jeff Kinney is the second highest paid author with an income of $19.5 million. He is the author of famous children’s book Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

  1. JK Rowling: J.K Rowling is the third highest paid author with an income of $19 million. She is famous for her Harry Potter book series. The world thought the eighth edition was the last but she released a screenplay/book entitled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – another hit.

  1. John Grisham: John Grisham is the fourth highest paid author with an income of $18 million. Aside from being an author, he is a politician and attorney. His notable works include A Time to Kill, The Firm, Rogue Lawyer, Sycamore Row, Gray Mountain and many more.

  1. Stephen King: Stephen King is the fifth highest paid author with an income of $15 million. His genre is contemporary horror, suspense, fantasy, science fiction and supernatural. His famous books include Carrie, Misery, Salem’s Lot, End of Watch and many more.

These authors made it on top because of their fans. They are famous not only in America but around the world. In fact, many Singaporean bibliophiles know one or all of the authors mentioned above. If you want to be like them, it is not impossible – all you have to do is to believe in the beauty of your dreams. It may not be easy in the beginning (like most beginnings) and there will always be tough days but if you believe in yourself, you will be a known author.

5 Reasons Why Everyone Needs a “Me-Time”

Time is a luxury, so if you think an alone time is something unaffordable, we hear you. But here the thing: Our lives become what we choose to happen each day. So if you don’t take ‘me-time’ a priority, you may never get the chance to do so. To further understand why you need some alone time, here are the reasons we would like you to ponder on.

  1. It teaches you to enjoy your own company.

You can have just as much fun alone as you do when you’re with friends. Remember that being alone doesn’t equate to being lonely. Having some ‘me-time’ lets you get in touch with your own thoughts and interests, and reminds you that you’re the ones holding your own happiness.

  1. It improves your focus.

Perhaps, you’ve heard about the importance of being ‘mindful’ in everything you do, but what does being ‘mindful’ really means? Well, it’s simple thinking ONLY about what you’re doing as you are doing it. So if you use your alone time to exercise your focus, you will experience ultimate relaxation, and thus preparing you for the busy days ahead.

  1. It gives you a sense of accomplishment.

A daily ‘me-time’ lets us cross things off our to-do list, like learning that new recipe or starting a new hobby. When doing so, you’d start to feel senses of accomplishment each day, and accomplishment is essential to boosting self-worth and confidence, leading to a happier and better you.

  1. It relieves anxiety.

With the day-to-day responsibilities we have, stress and anxiety becomes a part of our everyday lives. Thankfully, ‘me-time’ can process our emotions and keep stress manageable. By keeping in touch with your inner self, you can reflect on the things that make you feel negatively and find solutions to counteract its effects.

  1. It introduces you to your weaknesses.

People seem to be afraid to get to know themselves because they’re afraid of what they might find out. But the truth is, we all have weaknesses, which you can choose to ignore or get to know them better. The latter, however, is the best way to go. Having some alone time allows you to learn how to work with your weaknesses in a way that you can either turn them into strengths or avoid having to expose them.

Life is meant to be enjoyed. Do not push yourself too hard and forget about the little things that makes you happy. Get in touch with your inner being and know yourself more by incorporating a ‘me-time’ into your busy life.
