What You Need to Know About Dengue

Singapore is not an exemption when it comes to dengue and infectious diseases. Actually, there are no countries (even those countries who boast of perfect medical treatments) that are exempted if mosquitoes attack. Many people died because of dengue. It is crucial that we know everything that we should know about dengue so we can do something about it. It is better that way. Let us not wait for dengue to claim our family or someone we know. Together, we can do something about it.


The spread of dengue can be attributed to the bite of Aedes aegypti and A. albopictus mosquitoes. An infectious bite can cause dengue fever but we should know that it is not contagious. This means that it cannot be transmitted directly from one person to another. Now you know the basics of dengue, it is time that you know some things about dengue.


Symptoms: Dengue fever causes death because people usually ignore the symptoms and when symptoms are noticeable, it is on its final stage. The fever develops from four to seven days. You should know the symptoms. Symptoms include on and off fever for two to seven days, severe headache, nose bleeding or gum bleeding, nausea, vomiting, muscle and joint pain and skin rashes.


Treatment: The Singapore Ministry of Health is urging the public to seek medical attention if we notice or suspect dengue. Time is of great essence so we should bring our patient to the hospital right away. There is no particular treatment of dengue fever.
